Did you have a happy Mother’s Day?  I hope so!  I did - even though I had to work for a little while (typical Mother’s Day as most mothers have to do some work on “their” day, right? Anyway, it was a beautiful day - sunny, warm and a light breeze. Perfect. I hope you were able to enjoy it!

Well, this Friday night is graduation for the BHS Class of 2012. It’s hard to believe that a whole year has passed since the Class of 2011 graduated.  The weather is predicted to be very nice and that will be great. I have made almost all the graduations over the past 20+ years and they are always entertaining, emotional and sometimes you get the unexpected. But it is always nice to see those young, enthusiastic kids whose whole life is in front of them and wonder what they will make of their lives. If only you could talk to them and they would listen to you and actually learn from your own mistakes. But it is a rare young person who can do that. They have to make their own mistakes - as the saying goes. But listen to me, Class of 2012, and I can impart some wisdom from my own experience: get as much education as you can (afford or withstand) because that will give you the best chance to be a successful person when you’re an adult. Education is your ticket to have the kind of future you want. Sure, you hear about the person who quit school after high school (or before) and made a huge success out of their life. But they are few and far between. Remember, when you go to college (or even if you are still in high school), the teachers are there to teach you and they are getting paid to impart their knowledge. Your job is to take it in - learn it and use it. I wish each of you the best in the future. Don’t forget your hometown and your hometown values.

Now - go to your happy place!!!!

See you next week!
