The Lady Badger softball team squared off against a tough Southside team Thursday, April 12 at Badger Softball Complex. The first 4 innings went scoreless between the two teams after both teams had a hard time getting any momentum going due to good pitching and fielding.
But that changed in the 5th inning as Southside grounded out, along with flying out twice to Megan Davlin at 1st base to end the top of the 5th. The Lady Badgers Calah Hill singled to start the bottom of the 5th inning, followed by doubles by Madelyn Poe and Brittany Gentry, scoring Calah for the ladies 1st run of the inning. But it didn’t stop there, Megan Davlin singled to score both Madelyn and Brittany. After a fly out and a walk, Annlee Glass pinch hit a single to score Megan, running the score up to 4-0 Lady Badgers after 5 innings.
Southside went down 1-2-3 in the top of the 6th inning giving the Lady Badgers another chance at the plate and they did not disappoint. In the bottom of the 6th inning the Lady Badgers scored two more runs on hits by Calah Hill and Madelyn Poe with both scoring, Calah on a wild pitch and Madelyn after another single by Megan Davlin, making the score 6-0 Lady Badgers.
The Lady Badger defense held tough in the top of the 7th inning, only giving up two hits and they were able to hold on for the 6-0 victory. The win puts the Lady Badgers at 14-4 overall and 6-2 in conference play.
