The March 12 meeting of the El Paso EHC was brought to order by Vice President Polly Simmons with 11 members present.  After the group sang “When You’re Smiling,” Secretary/Treasurer Wilma Venable gave the devotional on “Spring Time,” with prayer led by Gladys Pope. Roll call was answered by each member naming the “Biggest Mess We Ever Made While Cooking.”

Minutes from the last meeting and the Treasurer’s Report were read and approved.  Balance in the treasury was $257.66. A work day to make teaching dolls for Arkansas Children’s Hospital was set for 9:30 a.m. on April 30 at 9:30 a.m.  Lunch will be soup, cornbread and dessert. The group reported volunteering 218 volunteer hours last month in addition to 34 hours workday time for AHC dolls.

The program, “How to Save a Dollar When You Don’t Have a Dime” was led by Georgia Burns. All members were involved, sharing tips they and their families used to save money, purchase wisely and invest responsibly.

The club will conduct a membership awareness program for interested persons April 20 at First Baptist Church in Beebe. The public is invited to attend.

Judy Riley gave a report on the workday at El Paso community library project.  Mr. Sonny Neeley donated the use of a trackhoe to remove dirt under the building.  Teenagers from Mars Hill Church of Christ also helped with the dirt removal.  A large amount of water was under the building and a French drain may be installed to help with drainage.  Three estimates for the window and door replacement/renovation were received and bid was won by Bruce Kemper who has already begun the work.

The meeting was adjourned and a potluck lunch was enjoyed by all present.  Hostesses were Georgia Burns and June Kyzer. For more information, interested persons may contact Myrna Richardson at 796-3880.
