My former English teacher, Wilma Beard, died this week. She was such an inspirational woman. She taught one of the first college classes I took at ASU-Beebe and was always so encouraging to her students. I believe, if you had to list the qualities that a college professor should have, she would have had all of them and more. She was understanding - yet strict. Funny - yet professional. She was an intelligent woman that stood as a great mentor to young women who were pursuing a career.

I remember one thing she told us in class one day. She said, “Intelligent people don’t have to know everything - they just need to know where to look up the information they need.”  I always thought about that when I didn’t automatically know the answer to some question - I just had to know where to look it up.

She was a fine person and we will miss her very much!  My condolences to her family and close friends.
