The Lady Badgers came out with a tough man to man defense Friday night at Badger Arena and battled back from a nine point deficit in the final 2 quarters, only to fall short of Paragould (23-4, 14-0 in conference), 33-31. The ladies led 12-11 at halftime, but could not hold the lead in the third quarter when Paragould jumped out to a 27-18 lead at the end of the quarter. The ladies fought back, but with the game tied and just under .02 seconds left, Paragould’s Carson Gill hit a layup to win the game and the Lady Rams ended the conference season unbeaten.
The Lady Badgers finished the regular season at (20-7, 10-4 in conference) and head into the State Regional’s next Wednesday February 29th at GCT, placed second in their 5A-East conference, to play an always tough White Hall in the 1st round.
After the contest Coach Richey was full of praise for his young ladies stating that “Paragould is very well coached and both teams knew what the other was going to do throughout the game and that the Lady Badgers handled it very well. Both teams played with a lot of heart and are State Tournament ready.”
Leading the Lady Badgers in scoring was Kalela Miller with 12 points and Jamie Jackson with 9 points. Leading the Lady Rams in scoring was Rachel Dicus with 10 points and Morgan Tripod with 8 points.
Congratulations once again to the Lady Badgers and Coach Richey for a 20 win regular season and a 2nd place finish in the 5A – East Conference!
