The Faulkner County Library, in partnership with the U.C.A. Confucius Institute will offer classes in Chinese Calligraphy during the month of April.
On Monday, April 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30, Dr. Gou-ou Zhuang of the Confucius Institute will provide instruction in this art as a gift to the Conway Community. All classes are from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.
Dr. Gou-ou Zhuang is currently director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Central Arkansas and an assistant Professor of Chinese Studies in the Department if World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at U.C.A. He received his Ph.D in comparative literature from the University of Southern California and his M.A. in English from Nanjing University, China. He teaches courses on Chinese language, culture and civilization. He has been practicing Chinese calligraphy for 40 years and teaching calligraphy to students for 7 years.
The U.C.A. Confucius Institute will provide the four treasures: Brush, Paper, Ink and Ink stone.
