Dennis Harold Berry, Sr.

Retired Air Force MSgt. Dennis Harold Berry, Sr. passed away in his sleep on Wednesday morning, February 15, 2012 from heart disease & kidney failure at age 79.

He was born  in Jasper, Texas on April 6, 1932 to Annie Mae Bass & William Harold Berry as their youngest of 12 children.

He is preceded in death by both his parents,  Ruby Mattox, mother-in-law, Thomas Mattox, Father- in-law, 3 Brothers, Charlie Berry, Woodrow Berry, Earl Berry, 5 sisters, Irene Smith, Lola Crane, Opal Hayes, Inez Nelson, and Daisy Gunter.  Dennis H. Berry, Jr., son, Edwin Lewis Brownson, stepson, Brent Mancuso, grandson, and Russell W. Berry, Jr., grandson.  He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Norma Dellfair Mattox Berry of Austin, TX, one son, Russell W. Berry, Sr. of Austin, TX, three daughters, Carol Berry Robertson (Mike) of Beebe, AR, Linda Berry Sanders of Marble Falls, TX, Patricia Berry Roberson(Darrell) of Kingsland, TX.  One stepson, Thomas Dale Brownson (Julie) of Austin, one step-daughter, Glenda L. Brownson (Ralph Morren) of Austin, TX.  One daughter-in-law, Debbie Berry Duhon of Lafayette, LA.  One step daughter-in-law, Theresa Brownson of Dripping Springs, TX.  Two wonderful mothers of 4 of the grandchildren, Glennell Berry Strawn  and Patty Brownson Doyle.  Two Siblings, one sister, Corrine (Sue) Berry Holyfield of Deweyville, TX and one brother, A. W. (Doug) Berry (Judy) of Ozark, AR.  One brother-in-law Thomas F. Mattox (Edie) of Shreveport, LA.  14 grandchildren, Michelle, Jessie, Erica, Jonathan, Ryan, Elizabeth, Dennis, III (Trey), Sean, Jeremy,Cheyenne, Candis, Monica, Melissa, Devan, Wesley, and Stephanie.   12 Great grandchildren.  A multitude of loving nieces & nephews & great nieces & nephews.  Numerous wonderful friends.

He was a wonderful, loving husband, father, grandfather & brother.  His sweet spirit, smile, and huge sense of humor will be missed tremendously.

The family would like to express their unending gratitude for the excellent care given to Dennis during his long illness.  His personal physicians Dr. Robert Norris, Dr. John Diek, Dr. Sumatra Venkatesh, all of the Dr.s, nurses and other caregivers at Seton Medical Center-Austin and Hospice Austin Christopher House will forever be in our hearts for the loving care you showed him.

Family & friends were invited to join in celebration of his life here and his life everlasting with a visitation at Bee Cave Baptist Church, 13222 Hwy. 71 West, Bee Cave, TX 78738  Friday, February 17 from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. with funeral services held at Bee Cave Baptist Church by Pastor Jim Roquemore Saturday, February 18 at 2:00 p.m.  Interment was  held with full Air Force military honors in Newton, TX Sunday, February 19 at 2:00 p.m..  Arrangement and care are entrusted to Smith Funeral Home of Newton, TX.
