Arkansas will celebrate National School Choice Week starting today, with eight events planned across the state, designed to highlight the need for enhanced educational options for children.
Arkansas is one of the states holding highest number of National School Choice Week (January 22-28, 2012) events. Nationwide, nearly 400 events are being organized by hundreds of organizations; the events will be held each of the 50 states, comprising the largest education reform celebration in American history. Tens of thousands of Americans are expected to participate.
All events in Arkansas are posted online at www.SchoolChoiceWeek.com under “Events.”
School choice supporters believe that Arkansas leaders should do even more to improve student achievement and attainment by expanding access to improved public schools, public charter schools, private schools, virtual education, and homeschooling.
“In Arkansas and across the country, parents, children, teachers, and community leaders will gather to celebrate school choice where it exists and is working—but also to demand better educational options for the of children who are trapped in schools that do not work for them,” said Andrew Campanella, vice president of public affairs for National School Choice Week.
