What’s Left?

Wow! This is the first week of the new year and boy have we had the “stuff” happening. The poor blackbirds - yes - I’m one of the people who really cares about them. Afterall, they are one of God’s creatures and we should do our best to live in harmony with them. I don’t know who intentionally shot fireworks into their roosts - but they obviously did not think about what they were doing or they just don’t care about animals and the cruelty they inflicted on those birds. I hope they catch them but unless someone comes forward - there will be no way to point a finger at who actually did it without an eye witness. I can just say that PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this cruel act. Let’s get out there and find out who did it!  I believe the motive was just publicity - so I hate to give them any - but after it’s been all over the television news - state and national - I am forced to do it.

We should try to live with nature. I feel sorry for the people of Windwood having to put up with the problems that the birds bring but possibly after more construction takes place in the near future (Walmart) their roosting area will be smaller and they will fly off into the countryside and make their roosting area there. After all, in the summer, there are lots fewer birds.

On to other current events. Can you believe all the missing persons, shootings, killings, and just crimes in general in the state and nation over the holidays?  I can’t believe it!  It’s kind of scarey. I believe that the increased stress of the holidays causes people to just go off the deep end - or at least it makes their regular problems seem bigger during that period of time when we stress family and friends. Hopefully, it will get better soon.

What about New Year’s resolutions? Did you make any? I always do and they always are in the general category of: spend less, save more, exercise more, eat better, sleep 8 hrs. and basically just “do what you are supposed to be doing anyway.” Why is it that we don’t? I don’t know - obviously. But, we try to do things our way and it just messes us our lives. I have a friend who is so peace-loving that he rarely ever loses his temper and tries to defuse any bad situation. It’s a good way to be but very difficult for some of us who tend to be a little more excitable.  But in the grand scheme of things - you just ask yourself - how important is this? And usually - it isn’t very important at all. So, no need to get all upset over it.

I hope you have a great new year ! Go to your happy place.

See you next week!
