What’s Left?

Halloween is just around the corner - actually just a few days away - Monday. I’ve heard of a recent push to make the date of Halloween change each year so that it would fall on a Saturday. I think that is a good idea and would help families with small children to have more fun and not have to worry about going to school the next day.  Maybe by next year that will be the case and we can always celebrate Halloween (for those of you who do celebrate it) on Saturdays.

I’ve been loving the weather we’ve been having lately. Especially the days when the temps stay around 70 and there is a slight breeze. It’s really nice. They are predicting that we will have rain tonight and tomorrow and it will get cooler. Well, I guess it’s about time for some sustained cooler weather. But you have to remember that this is Arkansas and we may have one week of cooler weather and then it may get hot again. It’s just never a sure thing with our weather. We are still getting great tomatoes from our (mom’s) garden. She has put up several pints of nice red tomatoes. I just love them. In fact, we’ve gotten better tomatoes these past two weeks than we got most of the summer. I think it was just too hot but now that it has cooled off, our great big tomato plants have made very nice tomatoes. It’s a great surprise and the only time I can remember that we’ve still had tomatoes coming in in late October. Just another weather thing. So next year, when you think the growing season is over, you might just hold off a little while before you pull up those tomato plants. You may have an extended season, if you’re lucky.

Go to your happy place.

See you next week!
