We sadly lost another one of our great community workers last week. Mary Garner passed away suddenly last Thursday morning at her home with her beloved husband, Charles, there with her. Just last Thursday, the day Ms. Mary passed, she and her husband, Charles, were called unsung heroes in a Letter to the Editor in The Beebe News. And they were tireless workers at the Christian Outreach Center. We will miss their efforts to help those in need. God bless you, Charles! We will all miss Mary!
As I said last week in this column, one of the problems with living in a small town is that, when you get older, so many of the people you know and love pass on.
This weather is very nice this week. It’s cooler at night and has been warming up some these past few days but the prediction is that fall temperatures are coming - and maybe to stay in the next few days. That will be nice.
Last night I was up at the White County Fair for the Queen Contest. It was so nice. The weather was perfect and there was a beautiful full moon rising. We had several area young ladies compete in the contest but, sadly, none of them made the top three. But it was a great contest and I know it was a good experience for all the young ladies who competed. It was the end of the reign of our own, Chelsea Mahoney, who has been the White County Fair Queen 2010 for the past year. She was really cute and did a great job last night and this past year.
My cats and dogs have been taking lots of my time lately - well - always. My dogs haven’t been able to swim that much lately because the water has gotten a little cooler and they haven’t wanted to go in. But if it does warm back up - I’m sure they will.
Go to your happy place!
See you next week.
