Amid all the wold turmoil - it is almost essential that you turn your mind to less seriouis subjects for a brief respite. Saying that in defense of this, I am just so excited that the next (4th) Pirates of the Carribbean movie, “On Stranger Tides” will be out this May 20th! That is not too long from now! Johnny Depp, of course, is joined by Penelope Cruz, among others, for this fourth sequel which was filmed, primarily in Oahu, Hawaii. It will be showing in digital 3D and IMAX 3D. I’ve never seen a 3D movie - not since I was a teenager (yes - they even had put on the glasses and watch 3D back then) but I may make a point to see this one in 3D. It will be fun. Something to look forward to!

As far as an update on my column last week, my friend made it out of Japan and went to Guam - although her son had to be evacuated back to the states. It is unclear at this time whether she will be able to come back to the states before the school year is over or will have to go back to Tokyo or teach somewhere else until the end of May. The radiation scare over in Japan is scarey and there are lots of things the experts don’t even know at this point about radiation. We could learn alot about it from this disaster.
To cheer you up - here are a few of the quotes I’ve gotten recently from the Brook Noel morning email:

One of the most tragic things about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.”
~Dale Carnegie

You get the best out of others when you give the best of yourself.”
~Dale Carnegie

It is a gift to be able to paint a particular picture or to carve a statue, and so to make a few objects beautiful; but it is far more glorious to carve and paint the very atmosphere and medium through which we look. To affect the quality of the day - that is the highest of the arts.”
~Henry David Thoreau
1817-1862, Essayist and Poet

“The difference between great people and everyone else is that great people create their lives actively, while everyone else is created by their lives, passively waiting to see where life takes them next. The difference between the two is the difference between living fully and just existing.”
~Michael E. Gerber

Go to your happy place. See you next week!
