What’s Left?

Being the cat person that I am, several years ago I was hard at work trying to figure out a way to recycle cat liter. Back then we had a gravel type liter that you could actually wash. I was working on a screen system that you could wash and then reuse. Then, low and behold, came clumping cat liter. It was a revolution in the cat liter industry. I was thrilled but disappointed that I couldn’t (or need not) go forward with my “invention.” Anyway, I found out tonight the year they came out with the clumping cat liter that changed our lives. It was 1987 - 23 years ago. Wow! That’s a long time. I found this out on the Scoop Away website - where I was trying to leave a nasty message (opinion) about their new 42-lb. cat liter packaging. If you’ve seen it at Petsmart, you’ll know that it’s a slick, “pretty” package that is, unfortunately, so slick that it’s hard to carry - especially for us old ladies who want to buy the big packages of cat liter. Anyway, I figure those guys in R & D didn’t give it a thought when designing the new package. They just wanted it to look good and be water resistant. Believe me, the folks that have to pick it up and sell it and those of us who buy it - because it is the best deal - wish they had given it more thought.
Speaking of writing companies and giving them your opinion, I do that quite a lot. I believe it is my duty when I feel strongly about something. It’s not always a negative note. Sometimes I just write to let a company know that I like their product. If you don’t do it, maybe you should. It’s really the only way they know what the public thinks about things.
