I just realized that when I retyped my 1997 story about my ride-along with the police, I wrote in the final note: access instead of assess. Funny how those “cc’s” and “ss’s” can change the meaning of a word. Sorry - but I’m hoping those of you who read it didn’t really notice (until now)! [...]
A friend sent me a funny email the other day. We don’t know who the original author is and I did have to edit this a bit for the newspaper. Here it is:
22 ADULT TRUTHS
1. Sometimes I’ll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.
2. Nothing sucks [...]
Cold, cold, cold!!! This has been a very cold couple of days. Here in Arkansas, how many times can you say, “Gee - I’ll be glad when it warms up to 32-degrees.” Today (Monday) it got up to a warm, warm, 22 degrees (according to the thermometer in my car) but the real problem was [...]
Well, here at my desk it’s still 2013 - but by the time you see this- it will probably be Jan. 1 or 2 - or later. So, Happy New Year! Have you made your resolutions yet? I’m going to do that tomorrow night (New Year’s Eve).
I’m going to try to enlist some help online [...]
I’m writing this before Christmas - but our family had our “family Christmas” this past Saturday. You’ll probably see this issue of the newspaper after Christmas but you might see it on Tues., Dec. 24th - as it will be out on the newstands but will be in the mail on Dec. 26th. Anyway - [...]
This week’s paper is our Christmas issue. It is very confusing to me because it will come out one week before Christmas. But the choice was to go one week early or a day late. I think I’d rather see the Santa Letters and the Christmas greetings before Christmas than one day or more after [...]
Tis the Season to Give
It is indeed an honor to live in our “Dream Hometown” with folks like you. YOU make the work of the Beebe Ministerial Alliance (BMA) and the Beebe Christian Outreach Center (COC) successful. This year we fed approximately 450 families (over 1350 people) per month and distributed at least 50,000 pieces [...]
It was sad to note the passing of a great man - Nelson Mandela. He was 95. I don’t have enough room here to write about his remarkable life.
I was taking pictures one night at Daniel Park - looking at the beautiful Christmas lights - and I was thinking of years past when I would [...]
Well - here we are - just past Thanksgiving and headed to Christmas! Time flies - as they say! This Saturday night - weather permitting - we will have the annual Chamber Lighted Christmas Parade. It starts at 6 p.m. at the school and comes downtown - usual route. I am honored to be one [...]
I hope each of you have a great Thanksgiving! As I sit here and think about this past year and all the things I have to be thankful for - I have to say that I am so thankful for my family - for my mother who is doing great and keeps us all going! [...]
