Last night I attended the monthly City Council meeting. During the meeting I was thinking how much public government is like your household management. You have to balance things that you need with things that you want and every once in awhile you get an “emergency/disaster” thrown in the mix. At last night’s meeting they [...]
Well, summer is really over - maybe not officially- Autumn officially begins Sept. 23rd - but since school started this week - it is, in reality, over for most of us. And this week may end up being the hottest week of the summer. We had a big rain storm yesterday (Monday) afternoon and then [...]
Looks like this is the last “free” week for you students of Beebe Public Schools. I hope you’ve had a great summer and have lots of energy and desire to get back to school and make it a great school year. It’s always exciting going back and meeting friends and starting a new grade. I [...]
At last week’s city council meeting, the issue of stray cats in the city was brought up. (See story on front page). And that is so true! We have lots of stray cats - more than we’ve had in a long time. I believe - when you look at the reproduction rate of cats - [...]
I am sad this week at the loss of my friend, Dr. Ruth Couch. But I am not alone - there are so many people here in Beebe and around the state - that called Dr. Ruth Couch their friend.
I first met Dr. Couch many years ago when she was my instructor at ASU-Beebe in [...]
I hope you are having a good summer! I don’t have a lot to say this week other than the days of summer are quickly dwindling to an end.
I remember when I was a kid and it seemed like summer lasted forever. And I was active and had lots to do but the three months [...]

I hope you all had a great 4th of July celebration - whether you came to the city’s extravaganza or had a celebration at home or with friends. The weather was fantastic. It almost felt a little “fall-ish” with the humidity being so low (for here). The high that day was about 83 degrees. One [...]
Well - here we are - the week of July 4th! I’m so excited! I love the 4th of July holiday. I love the fireworks, swimming pool, grilling, and especially the fireworks. They are just mesmerizing to me. I hope you all are planning to come out to the city’s 4th of July Extravaganza. It [...]
Lots of stuff going on these days. Getting ready for the great 4th of July event at the city park, school’s out, city pool is open and it’s been hot, hot, hot! Today (Tuesday) it is not quiet as bad, thank goodness, and last night there was one heck of a lightning show along with [...]
